86 Year Old Ex-Luton Town Footballer Set to Visit his Old Club
We are delighted to announce that one of our residents has been invited, as part of his Silver Wish, to re-visit his old club. 86 year old Michael Cullen, was originally born in Glasgow, and lived there until he was 17, when he was spotted by a football scout from Luton Town.
Michael began his professional career with Luton in 1948. He then went on to play for Grimsby and then on to Derby, before finally coming back to finish his career at Luton. His footballing highlight was playing for his national side Scotland against Austria in 1956.
His Silver Wish was to go back to watch a game at Luton Town. We contacted the club who were delighted to have a former player living locally. They were really pleased to be able to make Michael’s wish come true and so have invited him to a home match on the 20th January when they are going to bring him onto the pitch to introduce him to the fantastic Luton Town fans. He will then be invited to meet the Directors of the Club.
Michael is absolutely thrilled to be going to the club as you can imagine. We will make sure we take some pictures and post them for all to see.
