John's Silver Wish
For his Silver Wish, lifelong Arsenal fan John, from Fosse House, asked to go and see his team play. Thanks to the staff in the home and the generous support of Arsenal themselves, his wish was granted!
The minute he was told about the trip he started smiling and didn’t stop all day. With care worker Robert, he got the train into London where a taxi, paid for by Arsenal, picked them up to take them to the Emirates. Here, they were given two complimentary tickets for the match.
John was thrilled to have his dream come true, telling every fellow fan he saw along the way that he was going to the game as well and having a good chat with the staff and security at the stadium. He loved watching the match, joining in with the chants and soaking up the atmosphere! Afterwards, he and Robert went back to Finsbury Park station, passing the pub John used to drink in on match-days: the Auld Triangle. They stopped off at the Arsenal shop where John got himself a pendant to commemorate the day and once again the staff were amazingly helpful and friendly.
Once he got back to the home, he was quick to tell his fellow residents every detail of his trip! Robert said that he loved being able to go the match with John but the highlight of the day for him was John taking his hand during the cab ride home and saying thank you.
It’s a wonderful feeling to make our residents’ Silver Wishes come true and we’d like to add our thanks to John’s for all that Arsenal did to make this possible!
